New Pokémon are being released in Pokémon Go every few weeks, and it can be tough to keep track of the most powerful monsters you should be keeping in your party. Since there are so many typings in the game, certain Pokémon that are strong against one Raid Boss or Gym Defender might not be strong against the next.

7 Best Attackers You Can Get In Pokémon GO

In this list, we’ll only be focusing on Pokémon who excel as Raid and Gym Attackers. Also, while there are Pokémon who may be the best in a specific type, the list will only include Pokémon that you can use against multiple typings so that you don’t have to spend too much Stardust or Candies.

Additionally, players should note that we will not include Mega Pokémon in this list, as you can only keep one Mega-evolved Pokémon in your party at a time.

Shadow Mewtwo

Best Attackers In Pokémon GO (Our Top 7) (1)

Shadow Mewtwo has the highest attack out of all the available Shadow Pokémon. With a base Attack stat of 300 and the +20% boost Shadow Pokémon get to their damage, Shadow Mewtwo can put in some serious work against its opponents.

However, what makes it a genuinely fearsome attacker is the fantastic coverage it gets with its Charge Moves. It has access to extremely powerful moves like ThunderBolt, Ice Beam, FlameThrower, and Focus Blast, along with the legacy moves Shadow Ball and Psystrike. These moves give Mewtwo incredible flexibility and make it a generalist that can go up against many different Raid Bosses, as super effective damage is mostly just a Charged TM away.

You can only acquire Shadow Mewtwo from limited Team Go Rocket Events, so make sure to catch one for yourself when you get the chance.

Garchomp

Best Attackers In Pokémon GO (Our Top 7) (2)

The shark/dragon Pokémon is a fan favorite that boasts a hefty attack stat of 261, so you definitely want it in your party.

Garchomp has a very handy Ground-Dragon dual typing, which gives it several useful resistances against various Raid Bosses and Gym Defenders. Even better, you can use it as both a Ground-type attacker and a Dragon-type attacker.

You can give Garchomp Mud-shot as a fast move and Earth Power as a charge move if you want to use it as a pure Ground-type, or you could give it Dragon Tail and Outrage if you’re planning to go up against other Dragon-type opponents.

Terrakion

Terrakion overthrew Shadow Machamp as the best Fighting type in terms of DPS once it got the new fast-move Sacred Sword. Carrying a base Attack of 260, Terrakion can be an extremely useful addition to your party. Fighting is an exceptional offensive typing since it can deal super-effective damage to five typings, including Normal, which is the most common type in Gyms.

Players often overlook that Terrakion can also be a reliable Rock-Type attacker. Rock is super-effective against Flying amongst three other typings, and Flying is the most common type in Five Star Raid bosses. Moreover, you can easily transform Terrakion into a solid Rock-type attacker by giving it the fast move, Smack Down, and the charge move, Rock Slide.

Shadow Metagross

The second pseudo-legendary on this list, Shadow Metagross, hosts a powerful base attack of 257. Its exceptional moveset amplifies this, as it gets access to Bullet Punch, Meteor Mash, and Psychic. In its Shadow form, its Steel-type moves and high Attack stat make it the best Steel-type attacker in the game. Additionally, just like the other Pokémon on this list till now, it can be used as a flexible secondary option as a Psychic type.

If you missed out on the Shadow version of Metagross, don’t worry. The standard form can serve as a decent replacement.

Shadow Mamoswine

Once again, we have another solid dual-type Shadow Pokémon, Mamoswine, who has an Ice-Ground typing, giving it great offensive coverage. With the moveset of Powder Snow and Avalanche, this intimidating wooly mammoth can be the most powerful Ice-type available in the game. Ice is already a great type to have since many Flying, Dragon, Grass, and Ground-type raid bosses are susceptible to its moves.

But with the addition of High Horsepower to its moveset, Mamoswine becomes just as terrifying as a Ground-Type Pokémon. You can give Mamoswine the fast-move Mud-slap and the new charge move, High Horsepower, and it becomes one of the best Ground-type raid attackers in Pokémon GO!

Once again, while the regular version of Mamoswine is a bit weaker than its Shadow version, it can still serve as a good substitute.

Shadow Swampert

Best Attackers In Pokémon GO (Our Top 7) (3)

You’re probably growing tired of the number of Shadow Pokémon on this list by now, but Shadows are simply better attackers than their regular versions. The same holds true for Shadow Swampert, as it’s a fantastic Water and Ground-type attacker.

What’s good about Shadow Swampert is that it’s also the most budget-friendly Pokémon on this list. You can easily acquire the 25 Candies and 10,000 Stardust needed to unlock its secondary charge move, and Mudkip candies are easy to come by on their own. Its best Water-type moves are Water Gun and the Community Day move Hydro Cannon, while the best Ground-type moveset is Mud-Shot and EarthQuake.

Swampert also has a Mega Evolution you can utilize to boost its stats during battle. You’ll also get bonus candy on all the Water and Ground-type Pokémon you catch during its Mega Evolution period, which is excellent for grinding candies for those rare legendary Raid Bosses.

Shadow Salamence

The last Pokémon on this list is Shadow Salamence, who manages to slip by Garchomp as the strongest Dragon-type attacker players can get. Salamence boasts an insanely high attack stat of 277 and gets a very good moveset.

For the highest Dragon-type DPS, you should go for Dragon Tail and Outrage. While this moveset only deals super effective damage to Dragon types, Salamences DPS is high enough that it’s a good Pokémon even when it delivers neutral damage to the rest of its opponents.

Final Thoughts

That’s it for our list of best attackers in Pokémon Go. There are plenty of good Pokémon we couldn’t cover, but you should be good to go even if you stick to the ones mentioned here. Let us know in the comments if you want to see similar guides to help your journey as a Pokémon Go trainer!
